The adventure roads of Zanskar offer a thrilling and unforgettable experience for motorcycle enthusiasts, with stunning landscapes, challenging terrain, and high-altitude mountain passes.

The journey is approximately 1,200 kilometres long and includes several high-altitude mountain passes, including Baralacha La, Lachulung La, and Tanglang La. Riders will also pass through several remote villages and see some of the most stunning Himalayan landscapes, including the Suraj Tal lake and the rugged terrain of the Zanskar valley.

Trip Schedule

Day 1: Arrival in Manali

  • Reach Manali, Check-in at your hotel.
  • Explore local attractions like Hadimba Temple, Manu Temple, and Mall Road if time permits.
  • Attend a trip briefing session with your guide or group in the evening.
  • Overnight Stay in Manali.

Day 2 Manali to Purne

  • Drive to Purne via Atal Tunnel and enjoy breathtaking views of the Lahaul Valley.
  • Cross Shinkula Pass, known for its rugged beauty.
  • Reach Purne and relax after the long journey.
  • Overnight Stay in Purne.

Day 3 Purne to Padum

  • Drive to Padum via Zanskar Valley, known for its remote charm and natural beauty.
  • Stop at picturesque villages along the way.
  • Explore the surroundings of Padum in the evening.
  • Overnight in Padum.

Day 4 Padum Local Sightseeing

  • Start early in the morning for the excursion.
  • Visit Sani Gompa, one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in the Zanskar region.
  • Explore Zangla Fort and enjoy panoramic views.
  • Check out Stongdey Monastery for its historical and spiritual significance.
  • Overnight Stay in Padum.

Day 5 Padum to Leh

  • Start early for Leh and witness the stunning Drang Drung Glacier en route.
  • Stop briefly at Rangdum to visit the monastery.
  • Travel through Fotu La Pass and Mulbekh.
  • Arrive in Leh and rest.
  • Overnight Stay in Leh.

Day 6 Leh to Khardung La & Pangong

  • Drive to Khardung La Pass (18,380 ft), one of the highest motorable roads.
  • Marvel at the mesmerizing Pangong Lake, famous for its ever-changing hues.
  • Spend time by the lake, take photographs, and enjoy the serene environment.
  • Rest and recover in Pangong.

Day 7 Pangong to Leh

  • Begin the journey back to Leh via Chang La Pass (17,590 ft).
  • Witness stunning landscapes and small villages on the way.
  • Evening free to explore Leh Market or relax.
  • Overnight stay in Leh.

Day 8 Leh to Sarchu/Jispa

  • Drive to Sarch/Jispa via Tanglang La Pass (17,480 ft), the second-highest motorable road.
  • Drive through More Plains and witness stunning barren landscapes.
  • Stop at scenic points like Pang and Gata Loops.
  • Overnight stay in Sarchu/Jispa.

Day 9: Sarchu/Jispa to Manali Drop

  • Drive to Manali via Baralacha La Pass (16,040 ft) and enjoy the mesmerizing views.
  • Travel through Lahaul Valley and Rohtang Pass (if open).
  • Reach Manali by late afternoon/evening. Trip ends with fond memories.

  • Accommodation on Triple Sharing Basis, for couples – twin sharing, from Day 1 to Day 9.

Exclusions

  • Personal expenses like Telephone, Laundry, Tips, and Table Drinks etc.
  • Any type of insurance – Medical, Accidental, theft.
  • Any Airfare/Rail fare other than what is mentioned in “Inclusions”.
  • Airport, Railway station, or Bus stop pick up or drop – Cost of any spare part used due to accidental damage incurred when the motorbike is in rider’s possession.
  • Cost incurred to transfer or tow the motorbike in case it is dropped on the way.
  • Vehicle servicing or maintenance cost (if own bike).
  • Any lunch and other meals not mentioned in package inclusions.
  • Security deposit per motorbike of Rs. 5,000/- (refundable at the end of the trip if there is no damage or spare parts used).
  • Parking and monument entry fees during sightseeing.
  • Any cost incurred due to extension/change of itinerary due to natural calamities, roadblocks, vehicle breakdown, union issues, and factors beyond our control.
  • Anything that is not mentioned in the Inclusion sections.
  • 5% GST.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • The check-in time is 12 noon/early check-in is subject to room availability.
  • The check-out time is 10 a.m.
  • We require a minimum of 8 riders to operate one group. We reserve the right to cancel any group if the required number of riders is not met.
  • If there are any additional expenses due to bad weather or other factors beyond the tour operator’s control, such as hotel stays, transportation, and meals, an additional bill will be raised. The additional costs will not be borne by BACKPACKCLAN or the participating partners/hotels.
  • BACKPACKCLAN is not responsible for any itinerary changes caused by factors beyond our control, such as changes in flight and train schedules, cancellation of flights/trains, political disturbances, natural phenomena, and so on.
  • If any group member wishes to leave the tour in the middle, he or she must pay the cost of transportation of the bike from the point of departure to the Manali drop-off point.
  • Members of the group would have to purchase their own riding equipment. It is mandatory to wear a helmet and have a valid ID and driver’s licence.
  • All guests will be responsible for their own luggage’s safety and security. We will not be held liable for any damage, missing, or lost luggage. Carry a small daypack bag to carry all of your valuables. Compensation for any damage/accident caused by you during the tour to others’ property/persons would be payable directly by you.
  • Any inappropriate behaviour by the client during the trip will not be tolerated, and Backpackclan (KSN Tours Private Limited) reserves the right to cancel such bookings at any time during the trip without refund
  • Bookings are not transferable and are not refundable
  • In the event of any changes to the booking, the consumer must notify Backpackclan in advance (KSN Tours Private Limited)
  • The booking cannot be transferred. Only the names listed at the time of booking will be permitted to travel.
  • IF WE CHANGE OR CANCEL YOUR ADVENTURE HOLIDAY
    We do make advance preparations. We are unlikely to have to make any changes to your travel plans. We may need to make changes due to Force Majeure Events on occasion, and we reserve the right to do so at any time before or during the trip.
    If any changes occur as a result of Force Majeure Events, we will notify you as soon as possible before or during the trip.
  • We also reserve the right, in the event of Force Majeure, to cancel your travel arrangements, offer alternative dates, or revise the itinerary before or during the trip. Any additional costs incurred as a result of the aforementioned reasons must be borne by the traveller. Under Force Majeure Events, the traveller will not be refunded.
  • Force Majeure Event shall mean and include any circumstance beyond BACKPACKCLAN’s reasonable control, including, without limitation, any act of nature or the public enemy, accident, explosion, fire, storm, earthquake, flood, drought, perils of the sea, casualty, strikes, lock-outs, labour troubles, riots, sabotage, terrorist acts, embargo, war (whether declared or not), governmental actions, delay in issuance or processing of Visa/permit, change of laws and or other causes of like or different character beyond the control of BACKPACKCLAN
  • IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MODIFY YOUR ADVENTURE HOLIDAY PLAN, If you make a full or partial payment and want to change your travel arrangements in any way (for example, your preferred departure date or accommodation), we will do our best to accommodate you, but this may not always be possible.
    Any request for changes must be made in writing by the person who made the reservation. The traveller will be responsible for any costs incurred as a result of the amendment.
  • ALL DISPUTES ARE SUBJECT TO THE JURISDICTION OF DELHI.
    Road closures/blocks caused by snow accumulation on the highway, which may jeopardise the tour’s safety or smooth operation, may result in a change of itinerary or cancellation of the trip.
    In such cases, Backpackclan will not issue any refunds.

Cancellations received more than 60 days before the tour’s start date will be subject to a Rs.5,000/- cancellation fee per person.
Cancellations received less than 45 days prior to departure will result in a 25% tour cost forfeit;

45-30 days – 50% tour cost;

30-20 days – 75% tour cost;

within 20 days – 100% tour cost.

There will be no exceptions to this policy for any reason.

To avoid altitude sickness, proper precautions must be taken, as well as appropriate gear and clothing for the journey.
