Dayara Bugyal Trek: A Trekker’s Paradise The Dayara Bugyal Trek, located in Uttarakhand, is one of the most scenic high-altitude meadow treks in India. Situated at an elevation of about 3,675 meters (12,057 feet), the trek is renowned for its expansive alpine meadows, stunning mountain views, and serene surroundings. The journey begins from the quaint village of Barsu, which serves as the base camp. The trail winds through dense oak and rhododendron forests, picturesque streams, and quaint villages, eventually opening up to the lush green meadows of Dayara Bugyal. In winter, the meadows are blanketed with snow, transforming the landscape into a sparkling white wonderland, perfect for snow trekking and camping. From the meadows, trekkers are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the mighty Himalayan peaks, including Bandarpoonch, Srikanth, and Gangotri ranges. Total Driving Distance: 185 km Altitude: 2,000 meters The adventure begins with a pick-up from Dehradun around 7:30 AM. Dehradun is well-connected to Delhi by both rail and road. After meeting the group, you’ll embark on a scenic drive towards Raithal via Uttarkashi. Upon reaching Raithal, a charming village situated 20 km above Uttarkashi, you’ll settle in at a local homestay. After a brief introduction and a trek briefing session with your team, you’ll have some time to relax before retiring for the night.
Total Trek Distance: 5 km Altitude: 2,898 meters Today marks the beginning of your trek. After breakfast, you’ll start a 5 km journey from Raithal to the Gui Campsite. The trail is easy to navigate, winding through beautiful oak forests. Upon reaching the Gui campsite, a delicious lunch will be waiting for you.In the afternoon, take a leisurely acclimatization walk around the campsite. Afterward, enjoy some warm beverages and snacks as you unwind. The night will be spent camping under the stars.
Total Trek Distance: 7 km Altitude: 3,408 meters After breakfast, you’ll set off on a 3.5 km hike towards Dayara Bugyal. This stunning meadow, located at a higher altitude, offers panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Upon reaching the Dayara viewpoint, take some time to relax, enjoy a packed lunch, and soak in the breathtaking landscape. After lunch, begin your descent back to the Gui campsite. Once there, a warm dinner will be waiting to conclude the day.
Total Trek Distance: 5 km Altitude: 2,898 meters Total Driving Distance: 230 km On the final day, after breakfast, you will start the descent back to Raithal village from the Gui campsite. Once at Raithal, you’ll board a vehicle for the 230 km drive back to Dehradun, passing through Uttarkashi. Along the way, you’ll stop for lunch and some evening snacks at roadside inns. You are expected to arrive back in Dehradun between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM, marking the end of your memorable Dayara Bugyal trek. This itinerary offers a perfect blend of trekking, adventure, and relaxation, with stunning views of the Himalayas, making it a trek you’ll cherish for a long time.
