Your Himalayan ride officially begins today. After an early breakfast, set off on National Highway 1 toward Kargil. Along the way, you’ll pass through Sonamarg — a valley so scenic it feels like stepping into a live painting. Climb the dramatic Zoji La pass (3528m), offering sweeping views of the valley below. Continuing onward, you’ll cross Dras — the second coldest inhabited place on Earth — and stop at the Dras War Memorial. Arrive in Kargil by evening. Overnight stay at a hotel.

Start early for a scenic ride to Leh. The roads are relatively smoother today, making the journey more relaxed. En route, cross two high-altitude passes — Namika La (3700m) and Fotu La (4108m) — both located in the Zanskar range. Visit Lamayuru, home to one of the oldest and highest monasteries in the region. The landscapes become more surreal as you approach Leh. Once in the city, check in and unwind. Time permitting, take an evening stroll through the bustling Leh Market. Overnight stay in Leh.

Day 04: Leh to Nubra Valley (3048m) | 160 km

Grade/Duration – Difficult / Approx. 7 Hours
Altitude Loss – 452m
Highlights – Khardung La, Diskit Monastery

Today, ascend the legendary Khardung La (5359m) — once considered the highest motorable road in the world. The ride starts smooth but becomes more rugged after South Pullu. Spend only a short time at the pass due to thin air and high altitude. Descend into Nubra Valley, stopping for lunch on the way. Visit the massive Maitreya Buddha statue at Diskit Monastery before continuing to the white sand dunes of Hunder, where you might spot the iconic double-hump Bactrian camels. Overnight stay at a hotel or campsite.

Day 05: Excursion to Turtuk

Highlights – Scenic Beauty, Historical Significance

Enjoy a more relaxed ride today with an excursion to Turtuk — a beautiful village nestled in the Karakoram range. Once part of Pakistan, it was incorporated into India after the 1971 war and only opened to tourists in 2010. Surrounded by lush greenery and situated along the Shyok River, Turtuk offers a refreshing contrast to the otherwise arid Ladakh landscape. After exploring the village, return to Hunder for another night’s stay.

Day 06: Nubra to Pangong Lake (4250m) | 260 km

Grade/Duration – Difficult / Approx. 8 Hours
Altitude Gain – 1202m
Highlights – Shyok River Ride, Water Crossings

Begin a scenic and adventurous ride to the iconic Pangong Lake via the lesser-traveled Shyok route. Follow the course of the Shyok River and ride through quaint villages like Agham, Shyok, Durbuk, and Tangste. Expect slushy roads, rocky patches, and thrilling water crossings. The final stretch along the lake is particularly stunning. Upon arrival, soak in the breathtaking beauty of Pangong Tso. Overnight stay in tents by the lake.

Cruise through the flat and expansive Morey Plains, then reach Pang for lunch. Post-lunch, continue past Lachung La (5059m) and Nakee La (4769m), and navigate the thrilling 21 hairpin bends of the Gata Loops. Arrive in Sarchu by evening.
