Arrival & Journey to the Great Rann of Kutch | Pickup from Ahmedabad or Bhuj
Your Rann of Kutch adventure begins with a pickup from either Ahmedabad or Bhuj, depending on your arrival point.
From Ahmedabad: Approximately 402 km away, the drive takes around 6–7 hours.
From Bhuj: A much shorter route of about 70 km, which takes roughly 1–2 hours.
As you make your way to the Great Rann of Kutch, you’ll traverse the arid yet captivating landscapes of Gujarat’s Kutch district—India’s largest district and home to one of the world’s most surreal natural wonders.
The Great Rann of Kutch is a vast salt marsh spanning over 7,500 sq km, recognized as one of the largest salt deserts on the planet. Once a part of the Arabian Sea, tectonic activity caused the land to rise, and as the waters receded, they left behind this expansive bed of white salt that glistens under the sun and moonlight.
Upon arrival, settle into a traditional village homestay, offering an authentic Kutchi cultural experience. In the evening, relish a hearty dinner featuring local Gujarati delicacies, and unwind under the starlit sky. Your overnight stay in the homestay sets the tone for an immersive and memorable desert journey.

Here, visit the 400-year-old Dattatreya Temple, dedicated to the three-headed deity symbolizing Lord Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The peaceful surroundings and dramatic landscape make this a serene and spiritual experience.
Post-lunch, return to the Rann to witness a spectacular sunset over the white salt desert—a breathtaking moment as the golden hues melt into the endless white horizon. Capture this magical view with your camera or simply soak in the serenity.
As the sun sets, head to the vibrant Rann Utsav—an annual cultural extravaganza that celebrates the rich heritage of Gujarat. The festival grounds come alive with:
