1. Temperature

2. Permit & Passport

Tourists do not require any permit for travelling to Leh. But, all international tourists and foreigners are definitely required to complete their registration, specifically those travelling by road. The places where the registration process can be completed are Drass, Rumtse and Sarchu. Likewise, all the tourists travelling by air should get their registration completed at the airport. One more important thing to take care of is that visits to restricted areas including Tso Moriri, Tso Kar, Pangong Tso Lake, Dhahanu and Nubra Valley require tourists to obtain a Protect Area Permit and these permits are obtainable only through registered travel agencies. Make sure that you always have in your possession six copies of the permit as these are required for verification purposes at different checking points.

3. Altitude Sickness

Acute Mountain Sickness is caused due to the lower percentage of oxygen at higher latitudes and comes up with one or more of the following symptoms such as fatigue, headache, dizziness, loss of breath, vomiting, rapid heart rate and loss of appetite. However, this can be avoided by resting a day or two after every climb. Also, besides this one should carry oxygen cylinders and medicines like Diamox, Dexamethasone, Aspirin and Disprin.

4. Which medicines to carry

Make sure that you consult a doctor before embarking on your Leh Ladakh Trip and pack all the essential medicines for basic medical conditions like stomachache, headache and fever.

5. Clothing

It is essential that you pack your clothes accordingly as per the season you are visiting such as winters or summers. During the summer months, that is from mid-June to September, single T-shirts or shirts are sufficient but during the winters it is mandatory to be dressed in heavy woollen clothes and warm jackets.

6. Keep Identity proofs

Make sure that you have multiple copies of driving license, PUC, insurance, PAN and vehicle registration papers with yourelf at all times. This makes it easier to go through military checkpoints at all times.
