Day 1 – Trek from Solang to Bakar/Jaralu Thach via Dhundi | 4 hours
Bakar/Jaralu Thach
The adventure begins with a scenic journey to Solang, where we meet near Old Manali and take transport to the base of the trek.
From Solang, we start our trek towards Bakar/Jaralu Thach, a picturesque campsite located at an altitude of 3149 meters. The trek will take us through lush oak and walnut forests, with towering fir trees lining the trail. The air is fresh with the fragrance of pine, and the only sounds are the occasional chirp of birds and the rustling of leaves underfoot.
The 8 km trek is a gradual incline, offering stunning views of Hanuman Tibba and the surrounding peaks. As we ascend, the serene landscape becomes even more enchanting. Once we reach Bakar/Jaralu Thach, we set up camp with the Beas River flowing nearby, its waters winding around boulders and green slopes.
After settling in, we enjoy a delicious dinner before retiring to our tents for the night, ready to embrace the next day’s adventure.
Day 2 – Trek to Beas Kund and back to Bakar/Jaralu Thach | 8-10 hours
Beas Kund
Start your day early to witness the spectacular sunrise over the Himalayan peaks. After a hearty breakfast, we embark on the first leg of the trek to Beas Kund, located at an altitude of 3893 meters. The trail offers constant views of snow-capped mountains, including the majestic Deo Tibba and Indrasan peaks.
As we walk through forests of fir and spruce, their fresh fragrance fills the air. However, as we approach Beas Kund, the landscape transforms—lush vegetation and grasslands give way to barren mountain slopes and patches of snow, offering a stark contrast to the vibrant flora lower down.
Upon reaching Beas Kund, you’ll be captivated by the serene beauty of this high-altitude lake, the source of the Beas River. The surrounding meadows stretch endlessly, and you can observe the convergence of several streams that feed the lake and ultimately flow into the river.
After resting and taking in the tranquil surroundings, we continue our trek towards Bakarthach, located at 3270 meters. The 6 km hike to Bakarthach is a gradual climb, but the terrain becomes more challenging as we navigate through rocks and boulders (or snow, depending on the season).
Upon reaching Bakarthach, enjoy a brief break and marvel at the panoramic views of the valley. After soaking in the scenery, we begin our descent towards Dhundi, covering approximately 5 km back to our campsite.
Once at the campsite, refresh yourself, relax, and enjoy a hearty dinner before heading to your tents for a well-deserved rest after a fulfilling day of trekking.
Day 3 – Trek from Bakar/Jaralu Thach to Solang Valley
Solang Valley
Rise early to catch a stunning Himalayan sunrise, filling the valley with warm hues. After a fulfilling breakfast, we begin our descent from Bakar/Jaralu Thach, heading towards Solang Valley, which lies at an altitude of 2560 meters.
The descent is relatively easier compared to the previous days of climbing, but still offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, forests, and valleys. As you trek down, enjoy the changing landscape—lush greenery and rocky paths leading you towards the valley floor.
Upon reaching Solang Valley, take some time to soak in the natural beauty of this serene destination. Solang is known for its adventurous activities and picturesque views of the snow-capped peaks.
