Trip Schedule

Day 1 – Delhi to Chakrata (330 Kms)

This day we start early morning from Delhi so that we can reach our destination on time. We are riding to Chakrata, crossing Murthal, Panipat, Yamuna Nagar which will all be on the straight road on a highway. We reach Ponta Sahib which is a beautiful Gurudwara and is very famous for its beautiful placement. We ascend on the mountain trail to reach Chakrata before the sunset. Chakrata is a hill station at an altitude of 2118 Meters and has pleasant weather even when it is peak summer months of May – June. Overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 2 – Chakrata to Janki Chatti (150 Kms)

After a sumptuous breakfast we gear up again for today’s ride to Janki Chatti. The roads are going to stay curvy as you will now be amidst mountains. Yes you will have the river to your side now as you are going to visit the origin of the river Yamuna. Janki Chatti is the last point on the road as the temple of Yamunotri is not motorable. You have to trek to reach the temple. The ride today is easy and you will have decent roads to enjoy the bike. After some enjoyment with the group we have dinner and stay at the hotel for the night.

Day 3 – Yamunotri Temple & Barkot (6 Kms Trek/120 Kms ride)

Be ready early in the morning as we need to reach the temple in the morning hours and try to attend the morning aarti at the temple. We have breakfast early and start the climb which is samll but steep. You will love the trek as the views keep getting better as you gain altitude. You might encounter slight discomfort because of the elevation but you will get acclimatized soon. After the Darshan we ride back on the same road till Barkot. It is a small village on the way and we take the night stay at Barkot as going further in darkness is not safe. Safety is our priority on the bike trip to Char Dhaam.

Day 4 – Barkot to Gangotri (180 Kms)

Gear up and cheer up! After breakfast we start the ride to Gangotri crossing the towns of Uttarkashi, Bhatwari, Gangnani, Harsil and finally reach Gangotri which is located at a breath-shortening altitude of 3,415 Meters. It is a joy to be in the valley as riding to Gangotri crossing the beautiful valley of Harsil and hot water springs at Gangnani is all like a dream come true. You will be astonished by the look of the river Ganga, the flow is uninterrupted and the water so cold that it will make your skin numb only with the slight touch of it. We will attend the evening Arti and temple. Stay at a Guest House in Gangotri.

Day 5 – Gangotri to Uttarkashi (100 Kms)

It is going to be the easiest day of the entire trip as you ride back to Uttarkashi which is a bigger city and you will also be able to rejuvenate for the ride ahead. In uttarkashi you will be able to find a couple of good restaurants to try the Garhwali cuisines. Overnight stay will be in a hotel.

Day 6 – Uttarkashi to Guptkashi (195 Kms)

Today is going to be a bit challenging as the distance that we cover is a bit more than what we have covered so far in the mountains. We will cross the eye widening scenes of Ghansali and beautiful hamlets of Mayali. Mayali is also famous for the Mayali trek which is a sought after trek for the adventure junkies. We then approach the small hamlet of Augustmuni which is dedicated to the Sage Agastya and there is a temple dedicated to him in the village. Finally we reach our destination for the day which is Guptkashi. We stay in a guest house for the night and sleep early as the next day we have a long trek to do.

Day 7 – Kedarnath (14 Kms Trek)

Be prepared to give a visit to the great “Bholenath” but good things come after a great climb and that’s what is ahead of us today. A steep and long 14 Kms trek one side. Trek is challenging but as “Bholebaba Ki Jai” goes in your ears it fills you with enormous energy and you keep climbing until you meet the almighty. After the flashflood that happened at Kedarnath the earlier trek route was completely destroyed and a new trail was recommended by IMF. We take the same trail to reach the temple. After the darshan we come back to the camps and stay overnight at the campsite.

Day 8 – Chopta (14 Kms Trek/75 Kms Ride)

We start the day with light breakfast as we need to take the trek back to the roadhead. Descending is easy as compared to the climb and it takes less time too. Once we reach the Gaurikund we start the journey on wheels again. The ride today is short as we have  to reach a not to be missed place which is again the hamlet called Chopta. It is a famous destination among travellers as this place gives tremendous peace and solitude with Panchchuli peaks at the backdrop chopta makes it to be one of the most beautiful places in uttarakhand. It is also the gateway to Tungnath and Chandrashila which is a trek. Overnight stay will be at a camp site in Duggal Bittha.

Day 9 – Chopta to Badrinath (140 Kms)

Finally the last Dham on the list and the highest one too not in terms of geography but in terms of religious importance. Badrinath makes on the list of the greater char dhams which are in north, east, south and western parts of the country. Badrinath is a part of the Nanda Devi National Park. We cross the very famous Chamoli Gopeshwar and Joshimath town before making it to the temple. The road directly connects to the temple and there is no trekking required. Badrinath is at an altitude of 3300 Meters and looks like you have stepped into heaven with the scenic beauty it provides. It makes you think about yourself. We stay at a guest house for the night after the Darshan of Lord Vishnu.

Day 10 – Badrinath to Devprayag (210 Kms)

Finally it is time to start the journey back this is the last leg of our journey which is back to Delhi. Badrinath to Delhi in a day is not possible so we break the journey in two parts and end our day 1 in Devprayag. In all this journey you will see 5 prayags. Prayag means confluence of two rivers. In Devprayag, Alaknanda and Bhagirathi confluences and finally flow with the name Ganga. We stay at a hotel for the night and have long conversations about the awesomeness of the trip. You get your ride certificates, we have a lovely dinner with the awesome friends that we have made.

Day 11 – Devprayag to Delhi (320 Kms)

The last day of the ride which is going to be a long one as we cross Rishikesh, and reach plain roads of the highway again. Same old hustle and bustle of the cities and honking vehicles welcome us back to the daily routine. You are free to take the next endeavor as the trip ends.
