Bhrigu Lake Trek

Description

Bhrigu Lake is a high altitude alpine lake, Climbing at the height of 14000 ft. would be ultimate fun. The steep trail goes through virgin forests and lush green meadows which open into the beautiful campsite of Rola Khuli. And on the second day you would be trekking uphill to the oval-shaped lake which is believed to be changing colors with the Seasons. On your way, you will see on Hanuman Tibba and Seven Sisters peaks. To top it all, because of the soaring height, the clouds will be floating around you.

Trip Schedule

Reach Main Govt. Bus Stand in Manali by 0900 Hrs sharp. A beautiful town in Himachal Pradesh. Trekking in Manali is very popular for various treks. From here we drive to Gulaba we would reach Gulaba in two hours. Manali to Gulaba distance is 22 Kms. However, the road to Gulaba can be crowded on weekends as the same road is taken by tourists heading to Rohtang Pass. Hike through the forest and meadows with Manali and Solang Valley in the background. Views of Mt. Hanuman Tibba and the Seven Sister peaks on the way. Carry sufficient water in your bottle as there is very limited/no source (depending on the season) of water before Kolang Nallah. After 3-4 hours of the hike we will reach the Kolang Nallah. There is a makeshift wooden bridge on this Nallah for most of the months. After crossing the bridge, hike for another 1.5 to 2 hours to reach Rola Kholi, our campsite for the day. Rola Kholi is covered by mountains on 3 sides which protect it from harsh winds. Rola Kholi is an ideal campsite also because the water stream flows very close to the camping site.
We start early in the morning as the trail today is a long and steep one. As we trek to the lake, the trail changes colour from green to brown and to white (in winters). The participants are requested to be extra cautious today because the path is through boulders and scree. Once we reach the lake, the view is breathtaking because of the frozen lake (frozen almost in all months). If you happen to visit the lake during the summer, you will find grass and tiny alpine flowers surrounding the lake. After spending some time at the lake, we retrace our steps back to our campsite at Rola Kholi.
Today, we will trek back to the trailhead at Gulaba and board our vehicles for the drive to Manali. Expect to reach Manali by 4 pm. This could be delayed by heavy traffic in the peak summer months, so book your return from Manali late at night. The trip ends in Manali.
