Dayara Bugyal Trek

The journey from Dehradun to Raithal covers roughly 190 kilometers, taking around 7 to 8 hours as you wind through scenic mountain roads alongside the Bhagirathi River via Uttarkashi. Upon reaching the charming village of Raithal, perched at an altitude of 7,500 feet, you can spend the rest of the day relaxing, exploring the local village, and getting acclimatized to the higher elevation. Your overnight stay will be in a cozy local homestay or guesthouse, providing a warm atmosphere and freshly prepared local meals to refuel you after the long drive.

Leaving Raithal behind, you will embark on a 6 to 7-kilometer trek that takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, steadily climbing to the serene campsite of Chilapada Bugyal at an altitude of 10,200 feet. The trail weaves through dense, ancient oak and rhododendron forests, guiding you past the peaceful settlement of Kyarkoti. As you reach the meadow, you are rewarded with striking views of prominent Himalayan peaks, including Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, and Srikanth. You will spend the night camping under the stars in tents, with fresh breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided to keep your energy up throughout the day.

Starting from your camp at Chilapada, today's trek involves a 8 to 9-kilometer round trip taking about 5 to 6 hours as you ascend to the summit of Dayara Top at a maximum altitude of 12,000 feet. The trail opens up into expansive, breathtaking meadows that feature vibrant wildflowers in the warmer months or a blanket of glistening snow during the winter. From the top, you are treated to sweeping panoramic vistas of the surrounding Himalayan wilderness, with clear views of the majestic Gangotri range, Srikanth, and Black Peak (Kala Nag). After soaking in the summit views, you will trek back down to Chilapada for another night of tent camping, complete with warm, fresh meals served throughout the day.

On the final day, you will begin with a 6 to 7-kilometer descent taking roughly 3 to 4 hours, winding back down through dense forest trails toward Raithal. From there, you will embark on the 7 to 8-hour return drive back to Dehradun via Uttarkashi, enjoying scenic mountain views along the Bhagirathi River one last time. Breakfast and lunch are provided to keep you fueled for the trek and the journey home, bringing your trek to a satisfying close.
