Trip Schedule

Day 1: New Jalpaiguri (NJP) to Yuksom : Arrive a day earlier as today we will drive to Yuksom from New Jalpaiguri. It takes around 7-8 hours reach there. Yuksom is also the entry area for Kanchenjunga National Park. On the way we need to stop at Police check post and show our ID’s in order to go further for Trek. For permits, it can be obtained from the forest checkpoint in Yuksom after paying the fees. Yuksom is a little town which offers amazing views of the mountains, reach your lodgings and rest for the night.

Day 2: Trek from Yuksom to Sachen/Bakhim : Wake up in morning and get ready to for adventurous Goechala Trek. The altitude gain is from (5750 to 7200 fts.). We will move from Green Fields to Forests and the flora and  fauna of the forrest. Packed Lunch will be provided for today’s trek. The trail passes through three iron bridges. Todays trek includes few accents and descents. As the trail goes through the forest, Make sure to give way to the animals such as Mules and Yak. Once we reach Sachen we will set up our camp, Overnight stay in Camps.

Day 3: Trek from Sachen/Bakhim to Tshoka : Today’s climb will be through dense Oak Forest. Tshoka is at the height of 9700 Fts. It will be a pleasant walk till the last iron bridge and then steep hike to Bakhim. We will take halt at Bakhim. There is a tea stall at Bakhim, The also serve some snacks as well, after some rest we will you begin our climb till Tshoka.

Tshoka is a place to explore with few cafes, local cafe’s do serve malt beer which is also known as Tumba. Also, visit the local monastery for peace and blessings. Overnight stay in camps.

Day 4 : Trek from Tshoka to Dzongri : Lets gear up for a important section of the Goecha La trek. Today we will enter a forest full of rhododendrons which brightens the color of the path. Our today’s halt point would be Phedang, From Phedang you have a spectacular panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains. Packed Lunch will be provided to you. Post luch we will resume trekking; the trail from here will go steep till Dzongri base camp. After a short break we will start our climb again. The trail is mostly ascent from Tsokha to Phedang would take around 4.5 kms and aroud 3 hrs and then Phedang to Dzongri – 4.5 km, 3 hrs. You can easliy spot the Kanchenjunga peak and other peaks which are covered with shimmering snow.

Day 5: Dzongri to Thansing via Dzongri Top: Wake early in the morning. Dzongri Top is at the elevation of 13,778 ft and it also the maximum height of this trek. It is recommended that you start your hike early in morning, at around 4 AM and you will reach on the top at the right time. Enjoy the stunning panoramic views of stunning mountains and experience the beautiful sunrise. After spending some time we will start descending. Thansing can also be seen from the Dzongri Top. We will walk through silently and spot birds in greens of the forest. Once we reach, Overnight stay would be in camps.

Day 6 : Trek from Thansing –  Lamuney : Today is a bit relaxing day as it is short trek for just 2 – 3 hrs. Walk through silently, spot birds and greens of the forest.  At the end of your hiking on this day, you will find yourselves in the naked meadow of Lamuney.  The day is much required as you must get acclimatized to the higher altitudes before gaining further height; Overnight stay in camps.

Day 7 : Lamuney (13963 feet) to Goecha La (16000 feet) | Goecha La to Kokchurang : Today is the longest and toughest phase of the Goecha La trek. Climbing uphill then start descending to the Samiti Lake and then cross the Zemathang Plateau. From Zemathang you will another opportunity to witness the sunrise over the Kanchenjunga Range. From here, we will start ascending  and after trekking for around 1 hour, will reach the Goecha La Pass. Take some pictures of the views and  start moving back towards Kokchurang for an overnight stay camp.

Day 8 : Trek from Kokchurang  – Tshoka  via Phedang : Waking up early in the morning to trek down, Its time to head back and complete the Goechala Trekking Expedition. Our first stop would be to reach Tshoka via Phedang. It is quite easy to reach Phedang as there is no elevation gain in this section of the hike. You will cover a good distance of around 10 km in a period of 4 hours approximately. Arriving in Tshoka, settle down in the overnight stay camps.

Day 09: Tshoka to Yuksom via Bhakim and Sachen 
Today is the last day of our Goecha La trekking expedition, We will follow the same trails in reverse, and trek down to Yuksom, going through Bhakim and Sachen. Congratulations! You have successfully completed the Goecha La trekking expedition. Overnight stay in Yuksom.

Day 10: Drive back to NJP/Bagdogra by shared transport (160 km- 6 – 7 hours drive )By 6 PM
On this we will board shared transport from Yuksom and head to our NJP/Bagdogra to follow our onwards destination.

Cancellation charges per person:

· 30 days or more before departure: 25% of total cost

· 20-29 days before departure: 50% of total cost

· Less than 20 days before departure: 100% of total cost

Risk: Its a high Altitude Trek so be aware of symptoms of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) like mild headache, nausea and general discomfort.

Network Availability : It is important to notice that network availability is limited in remote area’s of Himalaya.

Weather : The weather is unpridictable in Himalayan Region. It is not possible to predict weather, snow fall, climate change or any natural calamities in advance.

Permits of Forign Nationals : As per the Sikkim government, foreigners(including OCI, NRI) need to obtain a special permit to trek in Sikkim. This permit is issued in Gangtok and therefore, foreigners need to come one day before in Yuksom. This process requires your signed ILP, therefore it cannot be processed in advance and can be processed only when you enter Sikkim. The charges of obtaining the permit will be Rs.2, 000 per person.
